Nettools Diagnostics
Ping, traceroute, DNS, ports and whois for iPhone and iPad
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-11-02
Nettools Diagnostics does not collect, sell or share any personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Nothing you do in the app is sent to the developer.
What stays on your device
- Run history (the hosts you tested and the results) and pinned targets are stored only on your device. You can delete runs one by one or clear the whole history in the app; deleting the app removes everything.
- Wi-Fi name and access point (BSSID) are shown on screen only and are never stored or sent.
Network connections the app makes
The app sends network traffic only to perform the diagnostics you see:
- to the hosts and addresses you enter (ping, traceroute, port scan, whois, DNS);
- to the DNS resolver you choose (by default Cloudflare 1.1.1.1; also Google, Quad9 or your own), or to all of them when you compare resolvers; traceroute looks up router names with your device's own DNS settings;
- for whois lookups, to whois.iana.org and then to the registry or registrar it points to;
- to 1.1.1.1 to measure internet latency on the Summary screen;
- to Cloudflare (
https://1.1.1.1/cdn-cgi/traceand its IPv6 equivalent) to show your public IPv4 and IPv6 addresses.
Like any internet connection, these servers see your public IP address; their operators' privacy policies apply, for example Cloudflare's. The app sends them no other information about you.
Permissions
- Local Network: needed to ping or scan devices on your own network; used only for the tests you start.
- Location (optional): iOS shows the Wi-Fi network name only to apps with location access. The app asks only when you tap "Show Wi-Fi Name" and never reads your location.
Shortcuts and Siri
Actions you run from Shortcuts or Siri work the same way as in the app; their results are saved to the history on your device.
Children
The app is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.
Changes
